Rebuild Your Immune System

Benefits of a Healthy Lifestyle

Are you catching more colds than you used to? Are you generally sick more? Are allergies and fatigue becoming more of a part of your life?

If so, chances are that your immune system may be depressed, or weakened. If your system is weakened, you are more susceptible not only to infections, but cancer as well.

The immune system is composed of several interdependent body components that together help protect the body from infections from bacteria, parasites, fungi, and viruses.

The immune system can be depressed not only by the aging process or even genetics, but also by our eating and drinking habits to include excessive intake of fats and sugars. As well, inadequate intake of required nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, proteins, and even water can degrade performance of the immune system.

The following are some aspects which are regularly discussed in forums on rebuilding the immune system. Many of these work together and may not only help you rebuild your immune system, but also help put your body in better shape altogether.

De-stress - stress affects not only the body, but it can also work to weaken the immune system as well. Taking a peaceful break away, such as to a beautiful beach, may help your immune system. There are several main ways to reduce stress.
* Prioritize tasks
* Relaxation time on a regular basis
* Delegate responsibility if possible
* Avoid procrastination
* Get enough sleep
* Excercise
* There are many things you can do to relax stress in your life.

Diet - eat balanced meals.

Regular exercise - moderate exercise is necessary to increase circulation. Heavy exercise may actually work to depress the immune system.

Multivitamins - may include vitamins B6, B12, and C, folate, pantothenic acid, and others; used to supplement intake. Be careful of taking too much.

Minerals - may include selenium, zinc, chromium, manganese. Be careful of taking too much.

Water - water is necessary to keep the body hydrated and keeps nutrients flowing in and wastes out.

Other nutrients - there are a variety of components extracted from herbs and animals which are proposed to help the depressed immune system by detoxifying the body to aid the immune system and/or building the body's immune system. Thorough research of proposed other nutrients should be thoroughly performed for potential side effects, interactions with other medicines you are taking, etc.

Clean out, or detoxify, your system. Plenty of water (above) and fiber (as part of a good diet, above) can work together to provide good nutrition as well as to help flush out your digestive tract on a regular basis.

The following are only a few of the seemingly links to sites on the immune system. There has already been so much research performed that While many may scoff them as being out of touch of what may really help to rebuild the immune system, these sites do contain info that must be considered when weighing your alternatives.
